Not having quality gear for fishing is like having ..... nothing. To foster an interest in fishing, we believe that youth should have a least somewhat quality equipment.

To do this, we first guide people to good buying choices. Only the essentials. We point them in the right direction, rather than having them figure things out themselves, which can be confusing.

However, many youths don't have money for fishing gear, especially in this present day economy. You can't fish without a rod, reel, line, and some basic lures. We have noticed that on our many Buddy Programs, where kids are taken out fishing, they don't have anything to fish with, only a dusty old rod and reel.

We ask for donations from YFS members with surplus gear, and other anglers in the community, and give the equipment to deserving youth showing a strong interest in fishing.
We also raise funds through various ways, such as our annual Give-And-Get Bake Sale.
With such donations, many youth who once had nothing became very avid fisherman, and became more connected to nature. With the necessary equipment, and some trips on the YFS Buddy Program, those youth can finally catch some fish.

We has fix and repair lures and rods that youth bring in at Clarksville Middle School, to insure that they will catch fish. We also will do the service of respooling on good line, and oiling reels if needed.
