The YFS has always wanted to spread the conservation of our fisheries and fishing. We feel that by reaching out to youth, we are fostering the ideals of conservation in our future. The children will one day inherit this Earth, and by raising responsible stewards of conservation, we are helping ensure the safety of our vast natural riches.

We have reached out to schools about starting YFS chapters in their classrooms, with several schools willing to become prospective chapters.  These chapters, following the YFS mission of enhancing our fisheries and fishing, will be valuable in the conservation of their local waterways and species. They will begin their own conservation projects, and reach out to other children about the issues their native waterways face on a daily basis.

With their local knowledge, the school chapters are better able to instruct people in their region about native fishes, and the problems surrounding their fisheries. They also have better knowledge of local fish species and fishing locations, as well as the equipment best suited for them, thus, they can better understand and educate local people about fishing.
Such school chapters are also better set to influence their respective communities on the issues faced by their waterways and fish, being closer to the local people.
